Invitations to join various communities have greatly reduced the utility of G+ notifications for me.

All of a sudden over the past month or so, I get many invitations a day to join communities that have nothing to do with my interests.

Now I need Gmail's spam technology for my G+ notifications.

  1. Just turn off notification for invitations.

  2. That's crazy talk!  (I didn't realize you could do this)

  3. Hmm.  All I see are options to disable sending such notifications to email or my phone.  While that's valuable, what I use most is the red notification on Google sites, and  don't see a way to turn those off.

  4. Its a shame that people are abusing that feature, because I have been invited to a few really good ones.

  5. I'm sure you can turn it off. I did somehow, and I never ever get any invites (and I used to get a lot). Could it be something like allowing notifications from people not in your circles or something like that?
