So you might have heard about Mastodon the Hot New Thing in social networks

Its like a cross between Google+ and Twitter with the cool feature that no one owns it. Anyone with the know-how can create another "instance" that interacts with all other instances, and all your activity flows between all the instances.

The main problem with Mastodon is the same problem with most social networks…it only becomes useful if you have interesting people to follow and interact with. You can follow me [at]dustin[at]makesocialboops.com (G+ makes posting that weird) once you sign up. I'm still finding interesting people to follow.

The "flagship" instance run by the guy who created it is over-capacity, but thats the thing with Mastodon, there's no real need to sign up on that "flagship" instance because all instances are interconnected.

  2. Hmm, not sure what's going on. The server maxed out on memory. It's back up after a reboot. I'll play close attention to it today.
