If you're opposed to abortion, I'ts not very clear that supporting actions like the Texas law that may restrict the number of facilities offering reproductive services is a good idea.

It's entirely possible that the absolute number of abortions (which is what you should care about if you think abortions are morally wrong) will stay the same or go up because of the fact that people will have less access to birth control.

At the same time, it's entirely plausible that the number of at-risk people (poor, teenagers) having babies will go up.

  1. Or deaths of women from having or trying other means of terminating pregnancies

  2. When the birth rate goes up, and these parents and children end up using the system to live, they'll complain about that, too. "I'm not paying for it!" Yes, you are. And you always will. No matter what.

  3. The decision to terminate a pregnancy is not easily made. So to protect the poor and the vulnerable the government should make the decision for them. Stop teenage pregnancies with compulsory abortions for pregnant teenagers. Single mothers about to be caught in a poverty trap – avoid the trap, compulsory abortions for the unmarried.

  4. Wait until Zika carrying mosquitoes arrive.

  5. Americans with tiny brains – could have great career in reality TV or even politics.

  6. When I was pregnant everyone coddled me but when I go places with a baby- esp when she is in a car seat or stroller still- I am basically ignored.

  7. +Jeff Green Compulsory abortions are not ok. This is the kind of argumentative fallacy the 'pro-life' types use to scare delegates into voting against freely available abortions and the clinics that exist to supply them. The choice must be left to the prospective parents. The poverty trap only exists because too many people have been convinced that social welfare programs are nothing but a handout, and not a reimbursement of funds granted by ALL IN SOCIETY  have agreed is necessary to help some of the most challenged and vulnerable of society. Disagree? Then funding for comprehensive sexual education in public schools as well as widely available contraception should be on your agenda.
