Regardless of what anyone else thinks, I fully stand behind my choices as a mom, including my choice not to vaccinate my son, because it is my fundamental right as a parent to decide which eradicated diseases come roaring back.

    What's funny is everyone keeps throwing the word around eradicated but if these diseases were truly eradicated then we wouldn't have them today we now would we

    Eradicated…or renamed? Because that happens alot when it mutates…not the flu tho..

    Also polio is making a come back I hear…
    The Sabin oral polio vaccine (OPV) is the only known cause of polio in the us today.

    Eradicated. Unless you've heard of a recent outbreak of a disease that results in your body being covered in herpes blisters, those blisters running together, and your skin peeling off like a fruit.

    No? Didn't think so, because that was smallpox, and it's gone.

    Rinderpest was also erradicated. But as it's a bovine VPD the anti vaxxers can't claim sanitation is responsible so they ignore it.

    +Eric Hansen The military is sometimes vaccinated for smallpox due to the potential of it being used as biological warfare. I was vaccinated for smallpox in 2002 at the age of 31, for this very reason.

    I know. I was in the military for a decade. The doctors know there is zero chance of seeing weaponized smallpox, and would look for the slightest reason to give permanent exemptions. It was only ever GWB's fear mongering over WMDs in The Iraqs (and such).
