I haven't done much video gaming in the past couple of years, but I thought I'd try a new game this morning, so I bought Blood Dragon off of Steam.

What the hell is this Uplay crap?  Why do I have to set up an account to play this freaking game?

Gah.  I should have just pirated it.

    I think uplay is a service game devs can use to allow game stats tracking. Normally there's a way provided in the game to play without a uplay account if you wish.

    it's in all the ubisoft games. Basically just allows you silly rewards like new costumes, themes, weapons, crap like that.

    Salt in the wound: Tomorrow is the start of the Steam Summer sale.  However I hear Blood Dragon is worth whatever its full price is.
