I'm trying to explain dark matter to my three year old daughter, and she goes "Why don't those silly scientists just shine a bright light on it?"

  1. Not a bad idea.  In a sense, that's what needs to be done.  You probably need to meet +Brian Brushwood and his daughter Penny.  She's 8 years old and can explain String Theory better than anyone else can!

  2. "We haven't yet found a light bright enough to see it."

  3. Dark matter doesn't interact with light, the light just goes straight past it.
