It's completely obvious that many (most?) advances are coming, and yet, I'm often blown away by them when they do come.
Like this next generation ATLAS robot from Boston Dynamics. They probably didn't develop any revolutionary new tech to make it work so much better than the last generation ATLAS robot, it's just incremental advances is computing speed and other stuff….
Yet, it's crazy to see this bipedal robot stumbling around in the snow in the forest and not falling over.

The guy who continues to goad the robot – he does know he'll be first against the wall when the revolution comes, right?
I want to tell the guy to leave the damn bot alone. Don't we have Anti-Bullying day coming up? And as an aside, the thing has reflexes. A bit creepy. And cool.

Seriously, this is the first I've seen a robot like this let loose, not on a tether to catch it if it falls. And recovering from pushing over from behind – I'm with you, it's definitely a moment of future shock.
