    For the sake of thoroughness they should add the discovery of new species as well. And maybe the rates of extinction and discovery. And show the units in percentages of known total species.

    +Adam A I was thinking the same thing. It was around the middle of the 20th century that on a large scale people started getting interested in preserving nature and reducing pollution.
