Despite that, I cannot understand how so many people go around being willfully ignorant. Â The very idea of not having curiosity in your soul is frightening to me.
Now, when I say "I cannot understand", what I really mean is that I can't grasp the mindset on an empathetic level. Â I understand the cognitive and sociological reasons behind it, it's just that the very mindset is alien to me, unlike the mindset of people who disagree with me on myriad other issues.

Remember that half of the population is below average intelligence. That helps me.
I share your general views about curiosity, but saw this study as a measure of those who tune out marketing messages, or not, depending on their interest in a product. I can empathize with that. It's like skipping advertisements in broadcast media.
